Routine victory at 1. FC Magdeburg
U19 Bundesliga:
1. FC Union Berlin under-19s collected another three points in the U19 Bundesliga, with a 4-1 win at 1. FC Magdeburg.
The match went according to plan for Andre Vilk's side who took the lead after 15 minutes. Georgios Labroussis' corner kick was finished by Ensar Aksakal. The Union coach demanded more from his players post-match as they struggled to turn dominance into the killer second goal, which would have put the game beyond doubt.
A strong second half performance extended Union's lead. Tim Maciejewski scored from a rebound and set up Aksakal for his second of the game, 10 minutes later. Mattis Koch secured the three-goal cushion in stoppage time. "In the second half, we made a few mistakes and gave the opponent confidence," noted Vilk.
"We need to improve our game and get more precision in our play, then we'll continue the form against Chemnitz," Vilk added. "In the table, the challenge ahead of us should be closer as today."
XI: Oppermann - Labroussis, Rankic, Liebelt, Riecke - Veith, Somnitz (Koch 85), Maciejewski, Aksakal (Czosnyka 90) - Travassos (Nikol 68), Asllani
After a fortnight break in the league, Union will host Chemnitzer FC on Saturday November 23 at 11am at the FEz-Berlin complex.
