Exiting final day:
In front of 1.024 spectators, Olympique Marseille won the second edition of the GG8-Youngster Cup, on this sunday august 31, which was organised by 1. FC Union Berlin at the stadium An der Alten Försterei, by beating Hertha BSC 4:3 on penalties.
The first half of the final was very even and varied. The first big chance for Marseille came in the 2nd minute. However, Hertha took the lead after 12 minutes, which was immediately equalised by a converted penalty kick by Olympique. The second half started like the first: with a great chance for Marseille. The French then gained a slight advantage in the field. Hertha came back with a good chance to score five minutes before the end. However, the match remained a draw after normal time and the game was decided in a penalty shoot-out. Here, the French team from Olympique had the better nerves and converted all three of their penalty kicks and were crowned winners of the GG8-Youngster Cup.
In the first semi-final, Olympique Marseille met FC Basel. The French were superior on the pitch, created some promising chances and hit the aluminium several times during the match. The only thing they failed to do was score a goal, so that in the end it had to be decided in a penalty shoot-out. The players from Olympique were lucky but deserved to win 3:1 and became the first participants in the final.
In the second semi-final, Hertha BSC and Borussia Dortmund battled it out for a place in the final. BVB took a 1:0 lead in the even match, but Hertha quickly equalised. The Charlottenburg team then turned the game around and took the lead for their part. With the last action of the match, however, Dortmund were able to equalise again and send this match into a penalty shootout. Hertha BSC won 5:4 and secured their place in the final, just like last year.

In the placement round for 5th place, the B Juniors of 1. FC Union Berlin played against FC Bayern Munich and Benfica Lisbon in Luckenwalde.
