Leasehold contract for academy registered
Union Academy Update:
The leasehold contract for 1. FC Union Berlin's new youth academy was registered on Thursday.
1. FC Union Berlin club president Dirk Zingler, head of youth football Lutz Munack and Oliver Igel, the mayor of Treptow-Köpenick, signed the contract, which will enable Union to build the youth center at the Bruno-Bürger-Weg.
Two grass pitches, two artificial pitches and several small pitches are to be built at the new site. The heart of the facility will be the new youth accommodation. The offices of the academy department will also be based there, along with the academy, the women's and girls' department and the sports development wing of the club.
"Today's certification is a milestone in the implementation of our plans for the new academy centre, which we are very pleased about," said Lutz Munack. "We will now take the final organisational steps to start tendering for the construction work as soon as possible and set the date for the start of construction."
The planned construction period, which is funded by the state of Berlin and the federal government, is twelve months from the start of construction. The leasehold contract is signed with a term of 65 years.
