Jan Scharlowksy takes over lead role

Jan Scharlowsky will take over as 1. FC Union Berlin's head of sports development from the start of November. The 34-year-old has previously led the coordination of children's football at our youth academy in Köpenick. Now Scharlowsky takes over the responsibility of all excerise and sports programmes in the area of daycare centres and schools. 1. FC Union Berlin's sports and community programmes reach over 7,000 children per season.

"In recent years, Union has become an experience for all girls and boys who are enthusiastic about football and sport. With Jan Scharlowsky, we have an expert for children's football at the club who will further develop this very important pillar for us. We would like to thank Hendrik Brösel for his excellent work over the past years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours," said Lutz Munack, 1. FC Union Berlin's Managing Director for Academy and Amateur Football.

His predecessor Hendrik Brösel had been leading the department since 2016 but will leave the club at the end of October.
