Ajax to test Union on Sunday

At 13:00 on Sunday, 1. FC Union Berlin will go head-to-head with Ajax as they look get up to speed ahead of the domestic season. The game will be played behind closed doors.
This is the first meeting between the record Dutch champions and 1. FC Union. Ajax reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2018/19, defeating Real Madrid and Juventus. Last season, however, Erik ten Haag's men were unable to build on their 34 league championships due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The Eredivisie was suspended with the Dutch FA not awarding the title to either AZ Alkmaar or Ajax who were joint-top of the league table at the end of proceedings in March.
"Ajax have proven over the last few years that they have quality," said coach Urs Fischer. "For us, this is an important bounce game against a strong opponent. We'll try and implement again what we've worked on in training and talk about improvements from the last few games."
