1.FC Union Berlin e.V. was one of the first football clubs in Germany to develop this idea, which was originally from England. The club provides a supplementary offer for school and training together with its own fan and member department (FuMa).

With the inauguration of the Learning Centre in 2007, Union once again demonstrated that the club sees itself as a training and learning centre, even away from the stands or the pitch.

"Union Macht Schule" is an example of the club's commitment to the development of youngsters in Berlin schools. A licensed coach from the club is integrated into the classroom environment at each of the cooperating institutions. 

The Berlin-based initiative has been offered since 2012 and is supported by Union Berlin, Alba Berlin, Berlin Volleys, Eisbären Berlin, Füchse Berlin and Hertha BSC, with the aim of promoting sustainable sport at school.

Under the title "Kick & Work", 1.FC Union Berlin, in cooperation with the Regional Training Association Treptow-Köpenick, launched a training and internship fair in 2014. Held at the stadium, this event was supplemented for the first time in 2017 with offers for those seeking new employment.
